Destiny 2: Master Technician Boss Fight Guide – How to Defeat Charge

Getting Started: The Charge Mission

Before you even get to the Master Technician, you’ll need to load up the Charge mission. Once you make it to the final boss area, things can get a little tricky, especially when you’re down to that last sliver of health on the boss. Trust me, it’s easy to get confused about what to do next.

But no worries—I’ve got the steps you need to make sure you can beat the Master Technician in no time. Here’s exactly how I did it, and how you can too.

Step 1: Using Stabilizing Dark Matter

In this fight, you'll need to interact with a few stabilizing dark matter charges. These are scattered around the room, and they’re essential for dealing with the Master Technician’s shields.

Once you’ve wiped out all the smaller enemies, one of the large shanks will drop an arc charge. Grab that arc charge and hold on to it—you're going to need it soon. You'll also want to make sure you have one of the stabilizing dark matter charges with you at all times. These charges are placed in specific spots around the room to help you break down the boss’s defenses.

Now, head over to the first terminal that needs to be charged, and plug that arc charge into it. This is going to begin the process of weakening the boss’s shield.

Step 2: Dealing With the Waves of Enemies

Now that you’ve placed the first arc charge into the terminal, the Master Technician will send out a wave of enemies. Don’t let that throw you off! Take your time and eliminate the smaller enemies first—especially the shanks that drop additional arc charges.

Once you clear the room of enemies, the next arc charge will drop, and you’ll be ready to move on to the next terminal. Take care of the smaller enemies in the room again, and make sure you’re not distracted by the boss while you’re doing it.

Step 3: The Second Terminal

After dealing with the first wave of enemies, you’ll be able to move to the second terminal. Like the first one, you’ll need to insert another arc charge. Make sure you’ve grabbed the dark matter from the side of the room, and place it next to the terminal. Once it’s placed, grab the next arc charge and plug it into the terminal.

At this point, you should see the Master Technician’s shields starting to weaken. The second terminal charge will help further break down those shields, but don’t get too excited just yet. There’s more work to be done!

Step 4: The Final Waves of Enemies

As you continue, a third wave of enemies will flood the room. Now, you’ll need to focus on two things: eliminating the new enemies and preparing for the final arc charge placement.

By now, you should have two arc charges in your possession. One will come from the first wave of enemies, and the second will come after you’ve dealt with the second wave. Make sure both are ready to go before proceeding to the final terminal.

Step 5: The Final Terminal

With all the enemies cleared and both arc charges in hand, you’re ready for the final terminal. This is where you’ll finish off the Master Technician’s shields for good.

You can choose which order to place the charges in, but the first terminal I showed you earlier should always be the first one you charge up. From there, it doesn’t matter which one you do next, so long as both are used before you try to damage the boss directly.

Now, grab the dark matter from the side, toss it into the platform, and place the arc charges into the terminals. As soon as you’ve done this, you’ll see the boss’s shields drop, and you’ll be able to go in for the final damage phase!

Final Damage Phase

Once the shields are down, it’s time to focus on bringing down the Master Technician. By now, the waves of enemies will stop, and you’ll have an opportunity to go all out on the boss.

Keep an eye on the Master Technician’s attacks, but feel free to use your strongest weapons and abilities to deal as much damage as possible. This is the final stretch, so make sure you’ve got your best gear equipped and are ready to finish the fight.

Wrapping Up the Charge Mission

After defeating the Master Technician, you’ll be treated to some dialogue, which gives a bit of lore and helps tie up the mission’s storyline. The dialogue doesn’t take long, but it’s a cool way to wrap up the quest.

Once the dialogue is over, you’ll collect your Strange Coin and wrap up the mission. You’ve successfully taken down the Master Technician and completed the Charge quest line!

Final Tips for Success

  • Take your time: Don’t rush through the fight. Focus on clearing the enemies first to make the boss fight much easier.

  • Use cover: Make sure to use the environment to your advantage, especially when dodging attacks from the Master Technician and the smaller enemies.

  • Don’t forget the arc charges: These are key to lowering the boss’s shields. Be sure to grab each one and place them in the terminals.

  • Prepare for waves: After every health segment, more enemies will appear, so stay alert and be ready to clear them quickly.
